Sensory Room at Wayfield Primary School
We created a Sensory Room for one of our local primary schools
Sensory Room for SEND pupils in need
Our relationship with a school is often about much more than simply arriving once or twice a year to take photographs.
After working closely with Wayfield Primary School for a few years and learning more about the needs of its pupils, Luke designed, funded and personally painted a brand new sensory room for the school.
The aim was to create a calm, welcoming space where children could step away from the busy classroom environment, regulate their emotions whilst feeling safe and supported.
A space that they had previously been quoted over £10,000 to create
Working with the SENCO Mrs Wadey, Luke was allocated a small disused office space and given permission to transform it however he saw fit & what a transformation it is.
After personally painting the walls Midnight blue (using paint donated from the XXXX) and laying padded foam flooring for comfort, Luke added dark fabric to the window and soon began adding a collection of resources for the children to enjoy.
Being a small room, it was logistically a challenge to find a range of products that will provide an engaging and safe space for the children however a small corner softplay step and slide was sourced second hand alongside a whole range of resources purchased. Stepping stones,Fidgets, Jelly Cubes, gym balls, a fish tank tube & sequin panels, all placed for children to enjoy when they need it.
A personalised sign for the door added and it's all complete.
Seeing the completed room open and ready for the children was incredibly rewarding. It is a project we are extremely proud of and a perfect example of our commitment to giving something meaningful back to the schools and communities that support us.
For us, school photography is not just about creating beautiful portraits. It is about building lasting relationships and finding practical ways to make a genuine difference.
